Formal Dining in Fairbanks?
For our one year anniversary I want to take my boyfriend out to a really nice, formal dinner. I'm looking at Regency Cove, the Vallata, Pump House, and the Roundup Steakhouse. I've never been to any of them and am looking for either recommendations between those or suggestions for a new place. Thanks!
Regency was a let down the last time I went. Plus it is downtown and does not have any nice views, a little dumpy inside.
The Vallata is pricey, the steaks are nice, pizzas are great, and a good Italian menu. But nothing unexpected. Pretty drive out there.
Pump House is always good, nice views and building, interesting menu. It can get pretty crowded on weekends. If you could; go on a week day and it will be more relaxing. Just make sure it is not Karaoke night as that will ruin the atmosphere, the sound travels from the bar. They also have great desserts
Never even heard of Roundup?
And let me add to your confusion. If you like prime rib, hands down Turtle club is the best. It is in Fox, and although it is a very nice place it is casual dress, and limited menu. Pretty much prime rib, big salad bar and you get a side potato / rice. They have some seafood too; and you can get a huge prawn as a side add on, but the big draw is the excellent prime rib.

And another one I like is Silver Gulch, very laid back but a fun menu, with very good dinners, gourmet individual pizzas, and it is a brew pub so there are fun beers to try. Desserts are so so, but the appetizers are great, so get them and a nice meal then pick up ice cream on the way back to eat at home. Also in Fox.
