why does the candle light go of if it comes in contact with sodium bicarbonate and vinegar?
there is a experiment- keep a candle in a small vessle light the candle put the sodium bicarbonate and vinegar at the side of the candle the candle goes of . Try to light the candle we wont be able to light the candle ..... why?
Well ,that mixture would give of carbon dioxide, so I guess the experiment is trying to demonstrate that CO2 will extinguish fire by blocking off oxygen. But it does not sound well designed - the vessel is closed, the O2 will soon be used up anyway!
